Javier Infantes
Location
Estepona, Spain | New York, NY
Abstract Artist
Javier Infantes understands the creative process as a language or a vehicle of experimentation, as a method of investigation and acquisition of knowledge, all of this based on the freedom to create. He is interested in traveling towards our inner selves, towards what we are: thought, emotion, feeling, memory... Moreover, he is attracted by our ability to generate intelligence, sensations, recollections…
Javier Infantes was born in Estepona, Spain, and has resided in New York City since 2007. He studied painting in Seville and Madrid, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, and a Master’s degree in Art, Museums, and Historic Heritage.
In addition to his formal education, he also studied graphic design, photography, drawing, and painting both in Spain and the United States. Javier has worked as an art teacher in Spain, as well as an interior decorative painter and muralist. Since 1997, his work has been published in various Spanish media outlets including ABC (Madrid), Claves de Razón Práctica (Madrid), El Viejo Topo (Barcelona), and Extramuros (Granada). He has illustrated texts by Noam Chomsky and Stephen Jay Gould, and an interview with former Spanish Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, among other prominent public figures.
Javier has exhibited his work in solo and group exhibitions in art galleries and international art fairs across Europe and the United States for more than two decades. His pieces are also part of private art collections in the U.S., Spain, the Netherlands, and Cyprus.
His work has been reviewed in various media outlets in the U.S., Italy, and Spain. In January 2015, he was honored to be featured in Descubrir el Arte, Spain’s leading art magazine.
In 2014, Javier was selected to participate in the international Summer Art Festival (SAF) "FEEL LIFE," organized by Kate SHIN Gallery & Waterfall Mansion in New York City. The event showcased original works by contemporary international artists alongside pieces by iconic figures such as Andy Warhol, Takashi Murakami, Nam June Paik, Keith Haring, and Robert Indiana, among others.
In 2017, Infantes was invited to take part in the Martha’s Vineyard Midsummer Art Fair in Massachusetts, where he had the honor of exhibiting his paintings alongside works by renowned artists including Chuck Close, Claes Oldenburg, Robert Mapplethorpe, Annie Leibovitz, and Thomas Hart Benton.
